Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about getting started with Pilates in Harare.

Do I need any prior experience to start Pilates?

Not at all! Our Pilates classes in Harare welcome complete beginners. Our instructors guide you through every movement, and we offer beginner-friendly classes specifically designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of Pilates safely and effectively.

What should I wear and bring to class?

Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows you to move freely — leggings or fitted shorts and a fitted top work well. Pilates is done barefoot or in grip socks. We provide all mats and equipment, but feel free to bring your own mat and a water bottle.

What is the difference between Mat Pilates and Reformer Pilates?

Mat Pilates uses your body weight and simple props for resistance, focusing on core strength and flexibility. Reformer Pilates uses a specialised machine with springs and straps that provide adjustable resistance, allowing for a wider range of exercises and more targeted muscle work. Both are highly effective — many of our Harare clients enjoy mixing both into their routine.

How often should I do Pilates to see results?

We recommend 2 to 3 sessions per week for noticeable improvements in strength, flexibility, and posture. Many of our clients begin to feel a difference after just a few classes. Joseph Pilates himself said, "In 10 sessions you'll feel the difference, in 20 you'll see it, and in 30 you'll have a whole new body."

Is Pilates good for back pain?

Yes! Pilates is one of the most recommended forms of exercise for managing and preventing back pain. It strengthens the deep stabilising muscles that support your spine, improves posture, and increases flexibility. Many physiotherapists in Zimbabwe refer patients to Pilates as part of their rehabilitation programme.
